Uploading Photos - Rules and Guidelines

Recommended Photo Dimensions

We recommend that you provide photos sized as follows:

  • 800 x 600 - i.e 800 pixels wide and 600 pixels high
  • 600 x 800 - i.e. 600 pixels wide and 800 pixels high.

Photos sized to 600 x 480 and 480 x 600 are also perfectly acceptable. We will also accept photos as large as 1024 x 768 and 768 a 1024, though we believe such a size should rarely be necessary.

All photos should be set as being 72 dots per inch resolution, i.e. 72 dpi.

VSAG Photo Gallery Limits

Max size for uploaded files - 512 KB
Any photo file with a file size larger than 512 KB will be rejected by the VSAG Photo Gallery. Therefore, it is essential that you use your imaging software to resize (individually or by batch processing) larger photo files to a more practical size.

Max width or height for uploaded photos - 1024 pixels
The limit of the height and width dimensions of photos that are uploaded is 1024 pixels. Therefore it is essential that you resize your photos to a more manageable size (e.g. 800 x 600) prior to attempting any uploads.

Materials Stored in the Photo Gallery

All photos and graphics that are uploaded to the Photo Gallery will be automatically resized (if the width or height is larger than 1024 pixels) and their resolutions will be reduced to improve bandwidth usage. As such, all graphics and photos stored in the Photo Gallery will have their quality reduced.

Due to the difficulty in maintaining copyrights for online materials, users who post pictures to the Photo Gallery shall agree that these pictures are free for downloads or usage by others.

We do not guarantee the safety of the picture files stored in the Photo Gallery. Owners should ensure that they maintain their originals and backups in their own storage media. The Photo Gallery is not an online store or backup medium. Due to the quality-reduction processes described above, it is not advisable to use the Photo Gallery as an online store.

If pictures of vehicles are posted to the Gallery, please ensure that the registration plates are blanked out if the photographs may bring ridicule, shame or embarrassment to the owner of the vehicle. Similarly, faces of people should be masked if their photos could bring ridicule, shame or embarrassment to the person concerned.

The moderators/administrator may relocate pictures or sub-albums to other locations to maintain consistency with Titles and Themes.

Moderators/Administrators have the right to allow or disallow registered users to post pictures in any album or sub-album.
