Can someone heip me with the name of this fellow? He's found in shallower water under piers and is one of the larger sized nudibranchs as a result. He is also approximately 70cm long and this was taken only last weekend (1st December). I actually took shots of two of them that i had found only 8 or 9 meters apart under a pier. Both were found around midday. One on the top of a pylon, and this fellow on the sea floor. What do these little fellows eat anyone know?

Are you sure you mean 70cms long? Thats as long as my arm!! Can't give you an ID on the critter just yet, perhaps you could buy 1001 Nudibranchs by Neville Coleman. A recent guest speaker at VSAG was Jan Watson Marine Biologist from Queenscliff, perhaps try contacting her.

According to my sources they eat( depending on the exact species) Hydroids,anenomes, sea pens, ascidians, bryzoans and sponges. Others are herbivorous.

There'd be enough meat on them if they're 70cm! Can you fry one up and tell me what it tastes like?

oop's an my brain must of been in parked when I wrote this. Anyway. personally speaking, Im still back in inches and feet as far as my brain functions go so lets just say around an inch and half instead.... Fried Nudi......Hmmmm Im vegetarian so maybe might take a rain check on that one....
