Three boats and eleven divers out again on 14th Jan. These larger group dives are becoming more common. It's very stimulating to have such a mix of old and new members, more and less experience. And once again, we tied in with Getunder club and AB's boat, Freediver. Thanks again to JL, Mick J and Peter Briggs for making their boats available.

Peter Briggs demonstrated his ability and knowledge of his boat in negotiating the RIP both on exit and entry....exit was reasonably smooth as the slack flood helped for a good crossing....on the return the ebb was pushing against a southerly wind and the RIP was running high and hard...offloading tanks and weight belts to the bigger boas, lightened the load and made the boat lighter/faster/safer for the run north back into the bay....with Mick in the lead Briggsie in the middle and Signature One at the rear,the entry was condsidered safe and Peter did the run very well and in full controll..a great sight and a great safe achievement! Clapps all round were offered!!!! This is Peter's fourth run through the RIP but by far the most challenging....guess he won't need us next time as he has mastered these waters!

For the more experienced boaties the RIP should never ever be taken for granted...on our run out on the running tide even with prior advice to to the crew to "make yourself firm and hold tight" one diver was flung back crashing safely against the rear cushioned seat but on the floor. Another diver suffered a small cut to the lower lip when a wave bounced her head against the back of a seat...every run though the RIP should be taken with a great degree of caution,even when flat!!! This place has a mind of it's own!!
