Wreck Training Course - NAS Part I |
 |
|
Hi fellow wreck divers,
Aquability (see www.aquability.com.au) has an upcoming AIMA/NAS Course.
If you're not familiar with the Australian Institute of Maritime Archaeology / Nautical Archaeology Society training, it involves the NAS Part I which builds on basic knowledge and practical skills for maritime archaeology.
The NAS Training Programme helps you learn more about archaeology, and offers you the opportunity to practice the techniques involved - above and below the water.
Recognised by the major diving organisations, and by many heritage organisations across the world, the programme is an ideal way to gain experience in this fascinating discipline.
The NAS have developed a modular training programme, which becomes progressively more advanced from the Introductory course through Parts I to IV.
AIMA / NAS training has been the basic training for most of the serious wreck divers in Australia. It will also give you a good opportunity to meet the people from Heritage Victoria and will give a better understanding of the way they work and why they do things the way that they do.
The AIMA / NAS course structure includes :
* Archaeological principles
* Archaeological sciences
* materials conservation
* ship construction
* surveying
* search techniques
* shipwreck position fixing
* remote sensing
* State and Commonwealth legislation
Submitted by John Lawler on behalf of Aquability Mentone.
