Monthly Meeting Guest Speaker |
 |
|
Hi all,
Just a short reminder about our guest speaker this evening. Wendy Roberts is the Co-ordinator of Reef Watch Victoria. Reef Watch is a project that encourages divers and snorkellers to monitor marine life at their favourite dive sites. The project has been developed by the Australian Marine Conservation Society and the Marine and Coastal Community Network.
Wendy will be speaking to us about Reef Watch Victoria, as well as the results of the recent Great Victorian Fish Count.
This should be a very interesting and informative presentation.
Find out more about Reef Watch at the following link:
www.reefwatchvic.asn.au/Home.htm
Please join us at Bell's Hotel, South Melbourne, this evening. 7pm if you'd like to join us for dinner, or 8pm for the meeting.
I look forward to seeing you all there.

VSAG 15-Nov-07 Meeting - Mac Gregory |
 |
|
Hi All,
Over time the Victorian Sub-Aqua Group (VSAG), www.vsag.org.au, has had some excellent guest presenters. At the November monthly meeting on Thursday, 15th November, we have an extraordinary guest presenter!
Victorian Sub-Aqua Group Presents:
MAC GREGORY on Naval, Maritime and Australian History
Mac Gregory joined the Royal Australian Naval College as a 13 year old in 1936.
Mac was sent to sea in 1939 as war was impending. He spent the total war at sea or in the UK doing his Sub Lieutenant's Course.
Mac served in the 8 inch cruisers, "Australia", "Canberra" and "Shropshire".
Mac was Officer of Watch on the "Canberra” when the Battle of Savo Island commenced at 0143 on 9th August 1942. Was it the Japanese who sank the "Canberra" during that intense battle?
Mac was on the "Shropshire" for the Japanese surrender at Tokyo Bay on 2nd September 1945.
Mac has exciting stories about the ships, submarines and historic war events that are fascinating to say the least.
Mac's account of the Japanese Mini Submarines attack on Sydney Harbour is riveting!!!
Mac is an excellent presenter, reading from well prepared, very detailed script and pictures.
If you think you've read or heard all the true accounts of some famous war events, Mac Gregory may have more for you!!!
For a very special evening with a very special naval historian, sailor and Australian war veteran:
JOIN MAC GREGORY AT VSAG
WHEN:
8pm Thursday, 15th November 2007
